Entry requirement for progression onto a Level 2 course is a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade G or better. In addition, students must achieve the specific entry requirements for each individual course which may apply to this course.

Typical Syllabus Outline
The Level 2 Btec First Certificate in Children’s Care, Learning and Development is aimed at people interested in working within this field and provides them with an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding which underpins this line of work. This qualification will enable the learner to build knowledge, understanding and skills which are appropriate to many jobs within childcare. The candidates will be expected to carry out a work placement within a childcare setting alongside completing the course.
The Level 2 Btec First Certificate in Children’s care, Learning and Development will be awarded to individuals who complete all of the following units:
- Understanding Children’s Development
- Keeping Children Safe
- Communication with Children and Adults
Candidates are required to complete a number of assignments which contain both practical and theoretical activities with the focus being on real work situations.
Candidates can progress from Level 2 to Level 3 and potentially may be able to progress into higher education.
