Level 2 Hairdressing

Entry Guidance

Entry requirement for progression onto a Level 2 course is a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade G or better. In addition, students must achieve the specific entry requirements for each individual course which may apply to this course.

Attendance

This course will run for 1 year, you will do 4 full days at the training salon and 1 full day at a salon placement. (This is unpaid)

Typical Syllabus Outline

You will cover all aspects of ladies hairdressing including:

  • health and safety
  • cutting
  • colouring
  • setting
  • blow waving

Sessions will involve demonstrations, students will be taught the correct approach and techniques. This will be followed by practical, hands on sessions, during which students develop the technical skills and confidence to deal with real clients.

Assessment

This programme is based on continual, ongoing, assessment and the completion of a range of tasks. These build into a portfolio of written work for you to keep at the end of the course. Career opportunities.

The progression route from this programme is into a salon or NVQ level 3 hairdressing.

Kits

You will need to purchase a hairdressing kit and a tunic top which is your salon uniform. Information on this will be given at your interview but as a guide, kits cost approximately £200.
